Bah! Sorry for the late post. Work has been busy with the movie wrapping up and on top of that my computer wasn't working for a few days before the deadline. Now that its up and running, here's my Beaker. I was going for a "I'm stuck in the monitor" kind of thing in a clean confident line type of style. I'm excited for this months topic as well. Lots of ideas floating around!

With soaring gas prices I thought it may be funny to see what kind of ideas people come up with as an alternative means of conveyance. Now I don't mean draw someone on a bike. Create something of your own. Be creative and don't be afraid to think a little on the crazy side.

Well, it seems as though this month has been a busy one for everyone..me included. also a shorter one too.. So get those posts in as soon as possible! :) I'll be posting the new topic later on tonight!
So here's my entry. Armadillos! I had some trouble colouring these ones because I used the cintiq and didn't realize I was using different resolutions. So next time it will be one resolution all the way through! Lemme know what ya think! Thanks!

Hey guys! Thanks to all of you who posted! Everything for the January post looked terrific and I hope you guys like this month's post as much as the Gorillaz one.
Au Du Animal!
This month I was trying very hard to not go with a Valentines theme, cause well...that sucks lol So while surfing the net I came across Mark Mcdonnell's blog. and this series of frogs he did. It really is fantastic and if you have some time check out his other blogs as well!
So on with it! This month is about design sense. Choose ONE animal, draw it in whatever style you choose and make THREE different designs (keeping the style consistent throughout the three drawings) which show different shapes, sizes...whatever!
One thing I'd like to mention is that although the site is for fun and recreational drawing, I think it would benefit us all if we have some more critiques on the work posted to help everyone improve or maybe get another point of view from another artist. Thanks guys! Have some fun with this one!
Any Questions or comments on this topic contact me or post it in the comments section of this post. And don't mind the repost of this topic. I'm trying to keep it on top so we don't have to scroll for it.

Consider this blog officially crashed! I'm fashionably late as always. Not sure why I decided to shoot myself, just that I drew the character with a gun and then remembered I had this photo of me looking like I was dead.
The inking wasn't too bad until I put it through illustrator/photoshop and then the line work got kind of distorted. Oh well, my struggle with clean-up continues.

Hey everyone, here is my entry. Where are my legs? the lower chair? the CPU??? NO ONE KNOWS! :o It was tougher than I thought it'd be! Maybe I'll have to try again later. Nice topic Frankie.
Edit: I updated it so that I now have a lower body.
Here is Mercedes's awesome sketch of herself that she created at distressing speed!

Here I am rockin' Guitar Hero Gorillaz style! I nicked the pose from this character from guitar hero, and I have to say that I'm pleased with how it turned out. I considered having my character doing something weird and random like Aaron's character, but in the end I decided to go with more of a rock & roll feel which I felt would suit the overall topic better.
In case the shirt I'm wearing isn't very clear, those are testicles. ...I've been known to rock SO hard that people's extremidies spontaneously combust, balls included.
As for my process, I sketched everything out on Monday night and then scanned the sucker into Illustrator to "ink" it. I then took the inked version into Photoshop where I applied a lick of digital paint and voila!
I should throw the "balls of fire" shirt design on Threadless...imagine randomly meeting someone wearing that shirt one day! Ha!

Here's my late "Winter Woes" entry. This image actually showcases a few bus stop related winter woes. They are as follows:
- Over-crowded shelters - All those puffy jackets add up to squishville
- Whiteout conditions - Which makes it impossible to see if your bus is coming unless it's right in front of you
- Giant snow mounds that you have to climb over to get on the bus - which, coincidently, makes all younger people "old person lifts"
- Bears - They steal perfectly good garbage from homeless people
I'll have my Gorillaz entry up sometime next week.

Well guys here it is and I hope we get a few more posts and comments/critiques this time.
So I thought maybe it would be cool for us to try to fit a certain style of drawing that we aren't used to. At least a type of drawing I haven't seen any of us do. And that is to draw yourself as a Gorillaz Character. I find it to be a very pleasing style and also a challenging one as well. Photo reference can be found
Good luck and any questions or comments are welcome!
Also F.Y.I if you've been working on something and haven't posted it by the due date..that doesn't mean don't post it at all. Remember this is for fun not for work!
